Switchfoot learns to breathe

Apr 12th, 2008 by carisse |

Visitors to Manila last year, San Diego-based rock band Switchfoot has risen steadily, growing from a typical garage band to a world famous act that has sold millions of records. More interesting to note than the fact that they have a Filipino band member, is that Switchfoot always talks about looking at the more important things in life.

Named after a surfing term that means to literally “switch one’s foot” on the surf board, the band believes in turning things around and giving back. Their annual surf competition and free concert is now on its 4th year (slated for June 7th of this year) and proceeds will go to local children’s charity “Stand Up For Kids“. They have also participated in Habitat for Humanity.

We want more than this world’s got to offer. We want more than the wars of our fathers…We were meant to live for so much more. Have we lost ourselves? We were meant to live.

Switchfoot, “Meant To Live”

Did you know?

While our planet is made up of over 70% water, only about 1% of it suitable for human consumption. This means we really need to watch our water usage and take measures to fight against water pollution. On your next beach trip, let’s be mindful of leaving no trash behind. It is also a good idea to bring a reusable bag along ;)
