Something Infinitely Interesting… Incubus Invades Manila
What’s a blog entry about a ROCK BAND doing on NotPlastic?!
Well, for starters, the Incubus fan in me is very sore that I missed an amazing show last March 9 at the Araneta Coliseum. Thus I found it fitting to announce to the world (the NotPlastic world, at least) one major reason why I give the Incuboys 134,723 pogi points, a gold star and a cupcake too.
What’s that Brandon? Walk to work? Sure! What? Plant a tree? How many?

Perhaps not as widely known as the band itself is The Make Yourself Foundation, which supports various causes such as Habitat for Humanity, Save The Music and Autism Awareness. and has raised over a million dollars. More interestingly for us over here at Edgy Ecology is the effort of the band and its foundation to make their own contributions to saving the environment.
From the foundation’s website:
Recently the band has been concentrating their efforts on the environment and the arts and they hope to make some substantial contributions in that area this year.
Just last year the band signed as a partner for the Stop Global Warming campaign at www.stopglobalwarming.org and Incubus remains in the TOP 10 of all ‘virtual marchers.’ In addition, the band has committed to making their entire 2007 world tour “carbon-neutral” friendly and neutralizing the carbon waste from the buses, trucks and flights used on tour. Through MYF, they will contribute funds to Carbon Neutral to plant news trees (thereby offsetting the carbon) and research new fuel alternatives.

Incubus was also honored in 2007 with Environmental Media Association’s “Mission in Music” award for their efforts, which includes educating their fans about ways to help green the earth and using biodiesel for their tour buses and trucks during their 2007 World Tour. The band and its entourage was able to offset 1,735 tons of CO2 emissions, and its 90% of its concert venues had recycling centers available.
(For more information, you can download their 2007 year-end report through the Foundation website)
With that, we hope that more artists (and everyone in general) will be encouraged to contribute in their own ways, large or small. And we don’t have to be rockstars to do it!
