Brosnan. Pierce Brosnan.

Apr 18th, 2008 by carisse |

I first chanced upon him in the 80′s when he was doing Remington Steele. And I know some people may object, but I thought he was a really cool James Bond, second only to Sean Connery. But aside from being a super secret agent on film, actor Pierce Brosnan is terribly committed to his real-life work for the environment.

How committed you ask? Well, in 1997 he was presented with an Environmental Leadership Award by Green Cross President Mikhail Gorbachev,  calling him “a truly committed leader whose bold actions and clever voice have been instrumental in marine mammal protection, as well as that of fragile ecosystems.”

Pierce and his wife, Keely are regular volunteers for many environmental causes, most notably the protection of our oceans and marine life. They have also lent their time to campaigns for clean air and water and have worked to save and protect breeding grounds for marine life, particularly that of the Pacific gray whale.

As Mr. Brosnan’s website states,

Pierce and Keely have emerged as respected and passionate activists addressing any number of issues in an effort to protect the planet and the species that inhabit it. Both the Environmental Media Association and Women In Film have honored them with humanitarian awards, while Heal the Bay, The American Oceans Campaign and the NRDC have honored them for their ongoing commitment to environmental issues.

A husband and wife tag-team for the Earth! I think that’s ultra-inspiring. Two is usually better than one, dontcha think?

Team up with a buddy and do something good together!

It could be as simple as organizing a Clothes Swap weekend amongst your girlfriends, or going all-out and forming an organization that does the earth some good. Whatever it is you decide, there’s nothing like that feeling of sending good vibes into the world instead of nasty, poisonous thoughts that we already have too much of. Sow some good seeds and reap the rewards later on!
