Owen Wilson gets back on track

Apr 10th, 2008 by carisse |

He made news because of personal issues he’s been dealing with, but nowadays Owen Wilson is looking like his old self. Recently he was part of the 80th Annual Academy Awards where he presented for Best Short Film. He was looking mighty fine in that suit by the way.

Perhaps to prepare for his participation at the Oscars, he took a trip to Peru last December where he and buddy Woody Harrelson shared an “eco-friendly” teepee and did their best to look Peruvian. There were reports that the pair also paid a visit to an orphanage. All that fresh air must have done him a world of good.

In The Green Book, Owen shares,

“Organic food was an easy one: I always liked the idea of eating healthy, just never did it much. But I do it now and it makes me feel better…I’ve even started worrying about my carbon footprint-for starters, what is a carbon footprint?!-and it occurred to me the other day that I AM Ed Begley, Jr.…or I’d like to be..because I love this planet, and I love nature…”

Like Owen, are you wondering what what the heck a “carbon footprint” is?
When I first heard that term I thought of a dinosaur for some reason. ;) Basically, it means how much your activities and choices impact the earth based on the carbon dioxide you emit or produce. Pretty much everything, and everyone leaves a carbon footprint, from cars, to computers, your shoes, your diet… you get the picture.

There are a couple of ways to assess your personal carbon footprint, and we’ve found a some simple ones you can try out yourself at Conservation International and at Nature.org since we don’t want to get too technical. Let’s just say, the lower the number, the better!
